My Challenging Journey to Becoming a Podcast Network Producer.

The journey from launching my first podcast to becoming a producer at the Top Cat Media Podcast Network has been a winding path, filled with passion, perseverance, and plenty of learning. It all began during the pandemic—a time when the world seemed to pause, but for me, it was the start of an incredible adventure.

The Beginning: Inspired by Jenna Kutcher and the Gold Digger Podcast

Like many, the lockdowns brought unexpected challenges, but they also offered a unique opportunity for reflection and creativity. I had always been deeply interested in the intersection of Christian faith and psychology, particularly how these two worlds could coexist and enrich each other. This fascination led me to explore podcasting as a medium to share these thoughts with a broader audience.

During this time, I discovered the Jenna Kutcher Gold Digger Podcast. Jenna’s approach to podcasting was not just about sharing stories—it was about creating a meaningful impact. Her success inspired me, and I decided to invest in myself by enrolling in her podcasting course. This training was invaluable, providing me with the tools and confidence I needed to start my own podcast.

Launching the Grow Your Dreams Podcast

Armed with knowledge and a burning desire to explore the temperaments theory, I launched the Grow Your Dreams Podcast. The concept was simple yet profound: I would engage in conversations with my counselor about temperaments, and as the podcast grew, it evolved into interviews with renowned authors, psychoanalysts, and psychologists from around the world.

The experience was incredibly rewarding. I was able to delve deeper into topics I was passionate about and share these conversations with an audience that resonated with them. However, the journey was not without its pain and challenges.

Challenges, Death and Lessons Learned

Despite my passion, maintaining consistency with the podcast proved difficult. Unlike many podcasters who are driven by profit, my primary motivation was to share knowledge and help others. I invested a significant amount of money into the podcast, but the financial return was non-existent. What kept me going were the messages I received from listeners who found value in the content I was creating. Knowing that my podcast was making a difference in people's lives was enough to keep me motivated.

However, life has a way of throwing curveballs. Between my paid work in media, the death of my older brother through a tragic series of events, and the lack of financial sustainability from the podcast, I found it increasingly difficult to pour everything into it. The podcast eventually went through a rebranding phase and became Our Journey to Eden. The idea was that I wanted to support and encourage people through the content I created to take the beautiful road of life despite loss, pain, and tragedy. I found the help from my counselor so incredible through this time that I wanted to share more content that would provide people with support and insights for their journeys. John Sparkes who was my counselor, mentor, and a main focus of my conversation on my podcast died from his battle with cancer, which came as another blow to me. Despite the rebrand and ticking along with trying to produce helpful interviews, I found making episodes increasingly hard.

The Turning Point: Joining Top Cat Media Podcast Network

Just when I thought my podcasting journey might come to a quiet end, an exciting opportunity presented itself. Top Cat Media approached me with the idea of running the podcast arm of their business. This offer was an absolute no-brainer for me. It was a chance to continue doing what I loved—producing meaningful conversations through podcasts—while also earning a living from it.

Joining Top Cat Media has been a transformative experience. I’m now able to focus fully on podcast production, developing both the studio and the shows we have on the network. One of the most exciting projects I’m working on is a brand-new show aimed at helping British entrepreneurs. I’ll be both producing and hosting this show, infusing it with some unconventional, left-field thinking to make it something truly unique and fun.

Looking Forward: The Future of Podcasting at Top Cat Media

I can’t wait to share this new chapter with all of you. The transition from a passion project to a professional role has not only allowed me to grow as a producer but also to make a real impact through the shows we’re creating. The lessons I’ve learned along the way—from the importance of consistency to the value of staying true to your passion—are now the foundation upon which I’m building the next phase of my career.

At Top Cat Media, we’re not just producing podcasts; we’re creating platforms for meaningful conversations that inspire, educate, and entertain. I’m thrilled to be a part of this journey and look forward to what the future holds.

Stay tuned for more updates, and be sure to check out our upcoming shows—we have some incredible content in store for you!

PS. OUR JOURNEY TO EDEN PODCAST is still live and I will be putting new episodes up in the future.
